Control Panel Design & Build

Rotor Technical Services have the capacity to produce custom built control panels in house to a customer specification/design brief.

We specialise in the design & manufacture of control systems for a wide range of industries. Our control panels can range from a simple micro inverter mounted in an enclosure to a PLC controlled multiple axis servo system with colour touch screen.

Below are some examples of the type of work we undertake:

  • Design & Manufacture of Control Panels
  • Retrofit of Controls into Existing Panels
  • Energy Saving Projects on Fans & Pumps
  • PLC/HMI Systems
  • Variable Speed Drive Systems
  • Servo Motor & Drive Systems
  • Electrical installation & commissioning available with all systems
  • Complete TURN KEY packages right down to the motors, gearboxes & sensors

Rotor Technical Services are an Approved IMO System Builder & Key Variable Speed Drives Partner.

Service Contracts

Rotor Technical Services can offer service contracts on all IMO Jaguar Inverters. Our IMO Jaguar trained service engineers can visit your site & provide the customer with annual maintenance on inverters. During the visit the inverter will be assessed & checked for wear. If it is found that components in the drive are approaching their service life, they will be replaced at a suitable shutdown period, avoiding potential costly downtime.

In the event of an inverter failure, we can visit your site, assess the condition of any inverter & offer a competitive quotation to repair or replace, keeping the machines down time to a minimum. If a replacement drive is required, we have access to a stock of drives from 0.4Kw-315Kw available for immediate dispatch.

Energy Saving

Saving Energy Using Variable Speed Drives

Rotor Technical Services can offer a detailed energy audit of all motors (Fans & Pumps) on your site. This will involve identifying the motors which are suitable for energy saving & carrying out detailed checks on the motors. We will then produce a report detailing project costs, energy savings & returns on capital investment. At this point we can install a variable speed drive on test to prove the savings before the customer commits to the project. Upon approval, our engineers can then install & commission the Variable Speed Drives to manufacturer’s recommendations, offering on-site training and maintenance contracts for added piece of mind.

The most common way to control fan & pumps in process systems is to use throttles & dampers. This usually means that the fan or pump motor runs at its rated speed, while the output is modulated. With a variable speed drive, the control process works the other way round - the motor runs at the correct speed to deliver the flow rate required for the process.

The benefits of this are as follows:

  • Energy consumption can be greatly reduced, often by thousands of pounds per year. This is due to Fans & Pumps being sized for the maximum design capacity of the system, while the actual requirement is often only half this volume or less.
  • Typically a 10% reduction in the speed of the fan of pump will give a 25% energy saving, a 20% reduction in speed will give a 50% energy saving.
  • The soft starting provided by the variable speed drive reduces belt wear & increases the life of the motor.
  • The variable speed drive can be interfaced with external systems & components, such as pressure transducers, temperature sensors, building management systems (BMS).

By reducing the speed of the motor, the variable speed drive ensures no more energy than necessary is used to achieve the required flow.
